What Have I Gotten Myself Into?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

My first post cannot be started without pointing out that Rick’s first post started off with his proud baby penis picture. He didn’t introduce you to our child with the super cute profile picture.. no.. he jumped right into it and showed you the goods. Sheesh. Poor baby gets no privacy.

Fortunately for our baby, he is sheltered inside me for a few more months. I’ll do my best to keep the paparazzo away.

Now that we know for sure that we’re having a boy - something that I suspected all along - the next big debate is over the baby’s name. Rick originally asked that we think up a baby name with some sort of musical connotation. Foregoing the obvious Wolfgang and Brett Michaels names, an absolutely perfect name popped into my head sometime in February: Lennon. So far, everyone in the world who’s been asked, other than Rick (and perhaps my mother) thinks that Lennon is a great name. From his friends to my friends to the airline attendants on Virgin America to Brett Ratner, we’ve gotten the complete thumbs up. Now I just need to convince the baby’s Daddy that “Lennon” is better than “Coleco” or “Anakin” - his two favorite names at the moment.

More to come on our baby as time goes by.. This weekend we need to go look at wedding rings.. and Duran Duran…

It’s almost a boy

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

We went to the doctor yesterday to see if we could find a penis on our fetus.  I’m not 100% sure that I believe it, but that little shape to the left of the “O” in “OH BOY!” is suposed to be it.  I guess I don’t have to be 100% convinced.  After all it only took 1% to make this baby.

Fetus with Penis

I was very pround of my son to be.  He was extremely cooperative with the ultrasound technician. Every angle the Dr. wanted, he seemed to be posing for her.  I was most excited to hear that the baby appears to be developing normally and healthily.  I got to see my son’s brain, kidneys, bladder, hands, feet, spine, and most amazingly all four chamers of his heart.  They were all working together and pumping in unison.  THAT’S MY BOY!

Laura thinks he’s cute, but I’d like to reserve judment for a beter picture.  Here’s a picture of him posing in profile for the camera.
