Still a happy, happy guy

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

Here’s some new pictures of baby Lennon from this week. He continues to be quite the happy baby!

This week he continued eating his rice cereal – and he loves it! Then he tried oatmeal for the first time yesterday. The first bite inspired a funny little face.. but then he wanted more and more and more! So far Lennon hasn’t met a food he doesn’t like!

Today he’s off for his first haircut at Daddy’s barber. I know, it seems a little early to have a haircut at just over 4 months old, but next week is his cousin’s baptism and his other cousin’s birthday party and Daddy wants him to look spiffy! Don’t worry though – Mommy won’t let them cut much off. He loves his crazy baby hair look!

Busy (Non-Football) Weekend

Monday, January 26th, 2009

This weekend was pretty busy for us, especially considering we didn’t have any football to watch. On Saturday we went to the Braemar Country Club for a tour. We’re thinking of joining.. not sure though. I grew up attending a club, where we mainly went swimming and had the occasional holiday Sunday brunch (i.e. mimosa fountains on Mother’s Day). Could be fun – and Rick and I would like to believe that we’d learn to golf and become masters – but the price tag could be an issue. Guess it depends on what the accountant says. My favorite part is how Rick summed up his first visit to a country club. He said, “So it’s pretty much like a resort without the hotel rooms?”

Nevertheless it was fun driving the golf cart around. Baby Lennon fell asleep.. that’s how much fun he had!

After the country club tour we returned home and prepared for our first Mommy + Daddy date with a babysitter. My friend Alison offered to sit for us (we have to pay her, so don’t be overly jealous!) and since she and Lennon get along well, we decided to give it a roll. Rick was very nervous about having a sitter.. so this was a good first step. Lennon had a hot date and Mommy + Daddy went to see Gran Torino and have a relatively-early dinner together. (We were home before 9!)

On Sunday we had brunch with our friends at Senor Fred in Studio City. Turns out not a lot of folks had been there before, but I’m a big fan. Loads of margaritas to try plus some pretty decent chef-inspired Mexican food (instead of the typical LA style Mexican slop most places serve). Lennon loves being with everyone and sat on my lap at the table for a while, reading the menu and banging around like a regular guy!

After 3 margaritas, Mommy was beat and when we went home Lennon and I took a nap together on the floor of his room. A good Sunday all in all!

Baby Lennon Eating Lunch!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

This week we introduced Lennon to baby rice cereal. I am so impressed! Daddy has already taught him how to eat like a big boy! In his first week!

Alright, I know this video is boring to everyone but me and maybe Rick.. but thought I’d share.

Baby Hiking

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

We went for a little baby hike yesterday at Marvin Braude Mulholland Gateway Park. Amazing views but some steep climbs. We didn’t actually make it all the way through the trail because a) it was really steep, b) it was actually really hot (too hot to be wearing jeans as we were) and c) we’re way out of hiking shape. We did have a nice quick picnic lunch though and Lennon loved being outdoors. I liked the view. California terrain is so much more picturesque than where I grew up in ever-flat Florida.

Latest doctor appointment news

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Today we took Lennon for his 4 month doctor visit (he turns 4 months old on Sunday). He is 24 1/2 inches tall now and weighs in at 15lbs 12 ounces! What a big dude! Actually he’s not that big.. He’s in the 75th percentile of babies – whatever that means. He also got his shots today. He cried after getting them and I picked him up and got a dab of his blood on my white shirt so I’m wandering around the office now with his blood on me. Gory! The doctor also diagnosed his red splotches by his armpit and elbows as eczema so we’re off to buy some prescription cream to make that go away. I thought it was just bad dry skin – but I guess it’s fairly more serious. No worries – Mommy and Daddy to the rescue.

Here’s a picture of Lennon from Wednesday morning. Cute as ever!

That picture was taken early in the morning after his second successful night of sleeping without waking up for a change and to be fed. Now he wakes up once or twice to be re-swaddled and given his pacifier again, but he’s making it through the night without needing food or a new diaper! Progress!

Mommy’s a Beauty Product Specialist. Huh?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Was just snooping around online to learn more about the neighborhood we moved into when I came across this: http://losangeles.blockshopper.com/news/story/206902/. Weird. Some little fake news bit on us buying our house.

Over the weekend we went wandering the neighborhood on a little walk with Lennon and started to peek in to see more of the super-huge properties just a few doors down from us. Turns out that 2 houses down from us on Vanalden is John Huston’s old estate, complete with a train track running from the front drive all the way up to the house. No sign of an actual train yet though. John Huston, for those who don’t know, is an old Hollywood director most famous for his WW2 “documentary” the Battle of San Pietro. He also directed The Maltese Falcon, African Queen and Annie. Pretty fun.

This adds to the short list of famous folks who do live or have lived in our neighborhood. I already know that Walt Disney used to live five doors up Valalden from us. His place is now home to my urgent care doctor who filled me in on that little tidbit. So just imagine… back in the 60s you had John Huston living just a few doors down from Walt Disney.

I look forward to snooping around some more to uncover more fun details! Will keep you posted!

Happy New Year!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Baby Lennon and his folks went to Aunt Dina’s for her annual New Year’s Eve party last night. He got all dressed up for the occasion! Can you tell how excited he was about the new year?

2008 was exhausting for Baby Lennon!

At the party, Aunt Dina hired her favorite Elvis impersonator to perform. Lennon had the BEST time watching him sing and dance. His cousins were breaking it down too and he sat on my legs shaking his booty and trying to dance with them. It was the cutest thing ever.

But don’t stop the music, Elvis! When you do, Baby Lennon cries! We truly have a rock star in the making!

Posing with "Elvis"

Happy New Year everyone!
