2008 was exhausting for Baby Lennon!

At the party, Aunt Dina hired her favorite Elvis impersonator to perform. Lennon had the BEST time watching him sing and dance. His cousins were breaking it down too and he sat on my legs shaking his booty and trying to dance with them. It was the cutest thing ever.

But don’t stop the music, Elvis! When you do, Baby Lennon cries! We truly have a rock star in the making!

Anyway.. Here’s baby Lennon today! Where’s his socks, right? You can tell when Daddy dresses him! He forgets the little details!

Naptime Baby

In the mornings before I head off to work I like to try to read a book to Lennon. (Daddy only reads things online so it’s Mommy’s job to teach him about books and newspapers - you know, that old-style stuff.) Today we pulled out a little monkey book and he really took to it. After I was done reading it to him, he wanted to flip through the pages in his leisure chair.

That made Mommy so happy! He wants to learn to read! Yeah!

The 1% Baby!

Not bad for a baby who just had his 3 month vaccinations yesterday!

The party tuckered the little guy out though and he spent most of Sunday being super-fussy. (Daddy finally calmed him down by taking off his clothes and letting him cuddle in a swaddling blanket.. I guess naked time was the answer!) In the midst of his fussiness we got him to smile and be happy just long enough to pose for a Christmas picture to be included in our Christmas cards. Now Lennon has a long week ahead of him. Today the contractors come to insulate his room. Mommy goes back to work for a full week. Daddy has lots of projects to manage and close out before Christmas and surely Baby Lennon will help!

Hanging Christmas Lights with Lennon

After hanging lights we went to Pierce College to buy our Christmas tree. (Rick wanted to get a pre-lit artificial tree from Costco but when we went to 2 of them on Friday both were sold out - so I got to get my real tree afterall!) I don’t think Rick has ever picked out a tree before.. He was sort of dazed. I was, of course, giddy and like a kid in a candy shop. I wanted to learn about all the trees, feel their needles, drink some hot apple cider and then make our decision.

In the end we got a Grand Fir which is supposedly the best smelling variety. The needles weren’t too harsh either so decorating it today wasn’t any bother. That’s what I did this morning while watching football.

The move was complicated business. The house was undergoing major renovations - new roof, new chimney, new floors, new everything! - and, as expected, not everything finished on time. (Even as I write, the roofers are scurrying about in the attic finishing the chimney.) Then we hired movers (FlatRate) and they packed us up in one day and moved us the next.. That was a huge load off our minds.. but still a lot of stress is involved when you move 3 cats, 2 adults and one little baby!

Nevertheless, Lennon is settled well in his new home. Here’s a picture of him all tuckered out last night:

But for now, Rick and I are settling into the new house and the daily schedule of me working and him trying to get things done while entertaining Baby Lennon. I think he has the tougher job - but I envy it! I miss the baby when I’m at work! Fortunately Rick sends me “Lennon-a-Day” pictures.. So I get to see what he’s up to.

Isn’t he just the cutest, most silly baby ever?

Wow! I can’t hardly believe he is already 2 months old. I remember when I was 7 months pregnant and getting to 9 months seemed like an eternity. And now, here he is, all old and grown up already!

Yesterday Lennon had his 2 month pediatrician appointment. This is the one where she gives him all his first shots! Oh no! Poor Lennon!

He took it like a champ. First they measured him: 23 inches. Then they weighed him: 13 lbs, 3 ounces. Big guy! (He’s gained almost 5 lbs in 2 months!) Then he sat around naked cooing and smiling at himself in the mirror while he waited for the doctor. When she finally came (and noted his developing flat head!) he started to get fussy. By the time she was done testing him, he was full on screaming. Mommy and Daddy got him to settle down with a pacifier and fall asleep - only to have the nurse show up moments later to stick him twice in the leg and make him swallow some yucky medicine. Boy was he pissed at us!

Fortunately he doesn’t hold a grudge… or his memory.. very long at this age. He was back to being pacified and sleeping in his car seat just a few minutes later. The rest of the day was a crabby blur for him.. a side effect of the shots. He even slept a full eight hours straight last night! While that’s something we’ve been looking forward to, Mommy and Daddy did have to admit that it scared them a little.

Today baby is celebrating and playing with Daddy and Nana while Mommy is at work. More pictures to come soon!
